What to photograph before an office furniture valuation

A practical list for Bengaluru offices preparing a furniture lot: quantities, condition, access and what a written offer can and cannot assume.

A furniture number is only as useful as the lot behind it. A single hero photograph of a reception desk does not describe a floor of workstations, and a spreadsheet of “200 chairs” does not say whether those chairs still have bases, gas lifts and armrests.

Start with a count by type. Workstations, manager tables, task chairs, conference chairs, meeting tables, storage and pantry furniture can sit in one valuation, but they should be named separately. Mixed condition belongs in the note, not in an average. A row of worn task chairs and a row of unused conference chairs are not the same asset.

Photograph each type in place, then one wider view of the floor so the quantity is believable. Include damage, missing parts and anything that is fixed to the building. Modular partitions can have recovery value when they come apart cleanly. Partitions that are built into the slab are a dismantling question, not a furniture question.

Access changes the offer. Mention the floor, the lift, the loading bay and the hours the building will allow a crew. A lot on an upper floor with a passenger lift only is a different job from the same lot beside a dock.

Household pieces from a home — a bed, a sofa, a dining set — are not what this valuation is for. The offer is for a commercial lot. Send the enquiry with the city, the locality and a mobile number that is answered during working hours. Photographs can be attached on the form. A visit is arranged when the pictures are not enough to price the lot.

This note describes how an enquiry is prepared. It is not a quotation and it does not describe a completed Arbiya Traders project.
